Super Bowl!!!!

WRONG!

That was me Sunday night, when I completely dropped the ball with the Seahawks/Panthers games...I knew I should have gone with the 'Hawks, but I just wanted Carolina to win...what I should have said was "Carolina has a backup running back who might do well, but he's not Deshaun Foster". Well, we didn't get to see because Goings got hurt early in the game, in fact I think the stats were 8 rushes, 2 yards! But I gotta say that the Seahawks pressured Delhomme into turning in one of the worst playoff performances in recent history. He wasn't even close on two of those interceptions! Maybe I'll get on the Seahawks bandwagon if they win the Super Bowl, I just don't see how they can...maybe I'm being biased because they've failed in the past, but they have only beaten a Redskins team that was the 6th seed that was worn the hell out from playing a tough Tampa Bay team, and a banged up Panthers team that saw no Foster and a hurt Julius Peppers. I didn't see Peppers get CLOSE to Hasselback in that game, I did see Brenston Buckner get SMOKED by Matt Hasselback on a big first down run in the first half. I'll put up my thoughts on the Super Bowl soon. And come on, I did pick the Steelers to beat the Broncos...I got half of the games this weekend right!

NFL: Panthers vs. Seahawks 6:30 FOX

The Carolina Panthers, like the Pittsburgh Steelers, are coming off two straight road playoff wins to try to get back to the Super Bowl, as they did two years ago. The Seattle Seahawks, like the Denver Broncos, are the quiet team that nobody pays attention to...This game doesn't really interest me as much as the other. I think it will really come down to which QB makes the fewest mistakes. Matt Hasselback quieted a lot of critics last week by playing near-perfect football without league MVP Shaun Alexander. Nobody has ever questioned Jake Delhomme in the playoffs, rattling off a 6-1 playoff record, the only loss coming against the Patriots in the Super Bowl in 2003. I say the Panthers win in a close one in Seattle on the shoulders of Delhomme and Steve Smith.

NFL: Steelers vs. Broncos 3:00 PM CBS

Pittsburgh...dubbed the "Road Warriors" by the sports media, coming off of a big upset in Indianapolis. Denver...a team that's been quiet the whole season, beating good opponents while managing to stay healthy and coming off of a win against the past two years' Super Bowl Champs. In my opinion this will be the best game of the two conference championships. The Pittsburgh Steelers are gaining steam and no matter what the score showed, they owned the Colts the entire game. On the other side, the Denver Broncos knocked off the New England Patriots, a team that everyone thought was really coming together and getting ready for their Super Bowl run. I think the key to the game is again stopping the run for both teams, and both defenses have shown that they are more than capable of doing that. The problem that Denver is going to face is that they won'te be able to go over the top nearly as much as they did against New England's small and beat up secondary. I think the Steelers win this one, as they beat a very good defense in Indy with their passing game, something they'll need since running will be hard against Denver's speedy linebackers. I'll have the 8:00 game between the Panthers and Seahawks later on.
